XFree86 DGA extension not present

I am running Mandrake Linux 10.0 Official on a Shuttle SB62G2 with a
Radeon 9600 Atlantis Card. When I first installed Mandrake 10, I had only
the on board Intel Extreme Graphics 2 video and everything was cool.
ABout 4 months ago, I decided to buy a Radeon 9600 and everything went to
hell rather quickly. Out of the box, the stock MD driveres were ok but I
wanted to get GL support and other features that only a ATI driver could
give. I downloaded the correct driver per my xfree version off of ATI's
site and completed the install. I got no gl support and my vmware keeps
giving me an error stating that "Xfree 86 DGA extension is not present".
At this point, I have reverted back to the stock ATI radeon driver within
MD 10 however, the DGA extension error still persist. How can I put
humpty dumpty back together again?
