I think he means:
* Shut down the system and power off
* hook up the CDR drive (as a slave on an IDE bus). Power up and boot
off it. Yes, IDE HD performance will go down a notch (eg my HD are
udma5 but best is udma2 with CRD on the IDE bus). But "so what" - it's
only temporary" :-)
* When you are done, power down, remove CDR and reboot.
This is certainly possible - a $0 cost solution if you don't mind a bit
of bother.
