You might want to check your cabling .... I have two Seagate drives
that are VERY sensitive to cabling. (In the end even a short shielded
cable wasn't quite good enough; an SATA->IDE adaptor, running off the
SATA M/B connector, worked fine).

First time I've ever had that problem but the trouble it caused me, left
a lasting impression :-)
