if you are on mandrake there's no need to worry for dependencies.
urpmi is a tool that will install the desired app with all it's
dependencies.
all you have to do is:
urpmi jack
for installing jack...
but first you have to configure your package sources.
go to:
http://urpmi-addmedia.org/
and follow instructions.
