I just basically got a new PC, save the stuff from my old one (CD-ROM,
hard-drive, network).
Even though my previous Graphics adapter was listed as i810 / Intel,
this one is also listed as i810 (845GV chipset). I made the necessary
change in X11 (even though it booted without any changes), but then to
my surprise the chipset no longer supports a 1152x864 display
resolution, so it kicked me up to some very unconfortable resolution.
It's either this or 1024x768 and I can't fit anything on my desktop with
such a small resolution. I wanted something in the middle.
In addition to that now it's telling me I can't change the refresh rate
on my video card. I have a generic monitor, and I know the refresh
rates for it (I have them written down somewhere).
Can you tell me why this would possibly be? Did I have to downgrade to
upgrade?
