No, but it's a fundamental danger to the security and stability of their
computer, and should be avoided at all costs. Even the US Government is
recommending the use of other browsers!

Which suggests it's an IE problem rather than a Mandrake one. IE can't even
render standard html correctly, but will "correctly" display the MS-mangled
version of html (which looks strange with a properly standards-compliant
browser).

When I do that, all my .pdf files start with %pdf. It really does suggest
it's something screwy with IE, possibly an incompatibility with Acroread.

That's good, but now you should INSIST on it! We have commercial clients
who now need a browser check on their website's index page to prevent IE
users trying to buy their products online. Apparently, a website may be
held responsible if a client's browser "leaks" their credit card details!
