Hi !
I am linux newbie
I tried to recompile the newest kernel that I founnd ( 2.6.10 ).
But compiled kernel image size bzImage is about 5 mb !
This is not the problem that I have ; I did some things that messed up
the system and a could not start it:
in /boot directory I redirect @vmlinuz and @configure simbolic links to
my own files , that I found in /usr/scr/linux/arc/i386 after
compilation , i.e. i didn't add a new entry to lilo.conf to boot my
kernel....
so it try to boot as usually... but is find my kernel instead and do not
start.... I see only black screen....
On my PC there is only one linux .
I tried to make a bootable diskette with
/sbin/mkbootdisk --device 2.6.8-10
I expected from diskette the behavior like with windows startup
disk... ( it makes a RAMDISK , and starts a DOS command prompt.... )
but it shows "boot:" options asking me "where could I find bootable hda ?"
What can I do to start my system?
The only this that i need to fix is to change /boot/@vmlinuz and
/boot/@configure simlink back !
