Exactly, you will pay approx $100 less w/out M$ at a small PC shop.

But when I go to a big box store and purchase a PC with the same specs and
with M$, it's $100 less than that.

Here in the Central Ohio USA area, I can get a box w/ M$ at a specialty PC
shop for approx $650US. W/out M$ it is approx $550US. At the big chain
store, I can get the same specs w/M$ for approx $450US. At the specialty
store, I have to carry the box in to the store if it breaks. The box from
the chain store carries a 1 year on-site hardware warranty. It's a
no-brainer. Sure, the specialty store box is more rugged and will last for 6
or 7 years, but I'll be upgrading well before that.
