I find the introductory part of your post deeply disturbing. It sounds
like a quote from Dilbert.

This isn't a flame, but you should realise that it's not good press to
advertise a business person's unwillingness to learn, or to think about
what they do. Using the average window manager is several orders of
magnitude easier than doing real business.

Some of us rate businesses by whether they use the best available
technology in the most efficient ways possible. It's called benchmarking.
