I can't help but wonder why you posted this message in this newsgroup.
You have not asked for help, so that's not it. Your conclusion that
"Linux is a waste of time" is obviously going to fall on deaf ears here,
so, if your post was a troll tactic, it's doomed to fail.

Did you just mean to vent?

Linux is plainly not for your family or for you. Linux is, in my
opinion, a superior system to Windows XP in most (but not all) ways, but
it definitely requires more technical savvy and dedication. My advice
to you is to go back to Windows XP and install all of the shields and
filters that you can. If you ever get the itch to try Linux again, do
it on a standalone "test" system that won't interfere with the family.
