DVD writing error.

I recently bought and installed a Liteon 16x DVD+RW DL drive on my
system running Fedora Core 1. I also have a CD writer on the same
system and am able to burn CD's on it without any problem. The DVD
writer is setup essentially the same way as the CD writer is (using
SCSI emulation), and I can find it using dvdrecord -scanbus:

scsibus0:
        0,0,0 0) 'LITE-ON ' 'LTR-40125S ' 'ZS0N' Removable
CD-ROM
        0,1,0 1) 'LITE-ON ' 'DVDRW SOHW-1633S' 'BS0C' Removable
CD-ROM
        0,2,0 2) *
        0,3,0 3) *
        0,4,0 4) *
        0,5,0 5) *
        0,6,0 6) *
        0,7,0 7) *

So I create my ISO image using mkisofs (I haven't tried growisofs yet),
and then try burning the image with dvdrecord. At first it would not
allow me to write a multi-session disc (still can't either... this
drive should support this feature, no?), so I tried burning a DAO disc,
and while it gets further than trying a TAO, I now get this:

I figure I'd post my entire output since it may give us some insight as
to what's going wrong. Obviously it's dying before it even begins
writing, but why?

Any suggestions on what to try?

Thanks!
