So I get Ubuntu and install it on my PII laptop.
*Two* hours later its finished unpacking itself. Oh, the partitioning
tool wasnt user friendly so I chose the default and overwrote the whole
disk. It finally finished and when I brought it up it was actually
*slower* than RedHat 8.0! Great...so I grab the Minislack cd and give
that a go since my drive is already partitioned. It installed in a
reasonable amount of time but ALSA couldnt find my sound card, RH 8
could though. *I* couldnt find a dialer like Gkdial anywhere in the GUI
so I looked at the Minislack site and read docs. Unfortunately
Minislack couldnt "see" my external serial modem which RH 8 saw &
configured flawlessly.
THats it though. This ends my experiment with linux on a Toshiba
Satellite Pro 490CDT. Unless I learn to program theres no way it would
happen.
Back to windoze :0)
