explode an iso image? just burn the iso images to a cd with nero without
modifying them before. then one of them (usually the one labled cd 1) is
bootable, which means you can put it in your cd/dvd rom drive and the computer
is able to boot from them. thats the more tricky thing about it. at best try
to press ether "esc", "f12" or whatever ist necessary, while the computer is
booting and is showing you an image/logo or POST screen, to bring up a menu
with possible boot devices and choose to boot from cd/dvd drive. note that
especially older computers don't have such a menue. in that case you have to
alter the boot sequence in your bios settings. google is your friend if you
don't know how to do that. note that you should wait for the cd drive to be
ready before selecting to boot from it, i.e. it shouldn't light it's LED.

that's because you didn't made an exact 1:1 copy of the original cd. most
burning software simplify the function to copy one cd to another by simply
reading the files from the source cd and burning them to the destination cd.
any information that is NOT stored in a file on the source cd, like boot
information, some copy protections, etc, are NOT going to be burned to the
blank cd. that's why your copy of win2k didn't work. i'am not sure if newer
nero versions are able to do exact 1:1 copies meanwhile. but clonecd can do
the job (however it got illegal to use in europe).
