Uh, it cannot. the disk is not read when the cdrom is read (unless of
course you forgot to set up the bios to boot from the CD rather than from
the hard disk).
XP is on the disk, not in the bios. XP can do nothing before it is loaded
into memory from the hard disk. Thus the problem is entirely eitehr with
respect to the bios or with respect to your not setting the bios up
properly.
