Hi,
Thanks, you put me on the right track. pro is not a script, 2 digits have fallen off while pasting the line.
The partition was not mounted noexec either, it is where i compile and run all my programmes. However, I checked the /etc/mtab file, and found that it is mounted nosuid . Oops !
I checked by trying to run the file in /var/tmp; this works
