I'm compiling fb support into my RHF4 2.6.12 kernel. If I compile VESA
into the kernel, I don't get frame buffering (no Tux or /dev/fb0).
Compiling in VGA16 gets me frame buffering but of course almost no fb
graphics (eg. fbi or mplayer -vo vesa). Compiling in nvidia gets me
frame buffering but then I cannot compile nVidia's own driver as a module.
I've tried compiling vga in the kernel and specifying nvidia on the kernel
command line (vidio=nvidiafb), but without success. I'd hoped the kernel
or initrd would create the frame buffering and by the time it had finished
loading had switched to the module.
Has anyone encountered similar problems compiling in frame buffer support?
Does anyone know why VESA might be failing?
TIA,
Duane
