Fedora may not be the best choice for a newbie. Much depends on the
individual, though. Just don't expect Linux to act like Windows. Give
yourself some time to learn it.

I am more familiar with Mandriva, but I will try to answer your first
question, anyway. The auto-partition program won't destroy your Windows
system unless you tell it to. Look for a choice to resize your Windows
partition. Fedora should have an option to use unsed Windows partition
space. It's best to let the install program create the Linux partitions,
especially for a newbie.

Grub or Lilo seems to be a personal preference. The are proponents for
both. I've used both and prefer Lilo, but can't pinpoint a reason why.
Again, let the install program make your first selection for you, based
on your system. You can always switch later.

Linux is able to access files on Windows partitions, but Windows knows
nothing of Linux. Mandriva sets this up automatically. Fedora's process
requires more input from the user. My last experience with Fedora was
with FC3, and this part may be different now. It's best if I don't
answer this one, since my information is out of date.
