Re: Considering switch to linux

If you have that kind of problem with Windows, in that you simply don't, or don't know how to clear the prefetch, temp files, temp internet files etc. to keep XP running smoothly, I assure you Linux is not for you.

Take it from a Suse Linux 10 noob like me who is still struggling with how to get Yast2 to install the ClamAV and ClamTK .rpm(s). ClamAV is a free anti-virus program and ClamTK is the GUI for it.

Virus detection is nothing for me (I'm using Linux) but Firefox I can advice to you:
Get the RPM from here:
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/mozilla/firefox/1.5/
Put it anywhere you like, click it with Konqueror and when you are asked let Yast install it. The whole thing is then finished with all your previous settings.

Then there is the matter of fonts - they simply are not at clear as those which appear on Windows. It's that simple.

It's not at all that simple. You should not say how things are if you don't know how they are. Someone might think you know these things and believe you. And then think about the fonts the way you do. Cos you don't know.

Fonts can be adjusted, first of all download the MS freetype fonts with YOU
Then have a look at this link:
http://www.opensuse.org/Optimal_Use_of_Fonts_on_SuSE
There is one suggestion for a set of fonts but you can make your own version.
Start learning to ask questions. You'll learn a lot. Don't say how things are.
