Although I wholeheartedly recommend you give Linux a try...
there is something seriously wrong with the way you have maintained
you windows installation...
I've got several windows installations and none of them ever needed
a re-install or (after the proper maintenance ) experienced a slow down.
The main problem with Windows is that you do have to constantly
maintain it! There is not a week that goes by without something that needs
to be done.
