Did you first run "./configure" ?

(BTW, xfig 3.2.4 works fine on FreeBSD 5.4,
installed from ports,
and 3.2.3p1 runs fine on Red Hat 6.2,
installed from rpm,
and 3.2.5a5-3 works fine on Debian (latest stable),
installed with apt-get)

Did you try "apt-get install xfig"
.
