Thanks for the help!, its a rather unusual hack that needs to be made to get
it to work. Sad thing is that I also get the error in xfig 3.2.4:

mos@ubuntu:~$ xfig
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x082931b0 ***
Aborted
mos@ubuntu:~$

when I try to open a few month old .fig file I made. I have tried to open it
on other machines without the error so I guess it has something to do with
other system files in Ubuntu.
