I can relate to that. There is so much confusion already. Have you ever been
at the point where you thought you knew what you were talking about but you
were mistaken, but instead of correcting you, people rubbed your face in the
mud but didn't tell you exactly where you were wrong? How did that feel? Did
it feel helpless, did it make you feel afraid to ask questions because you
were bound to be slapped around. Its amazing how much of a contrast the
ubuntu xchat irc channel is, by default you land in the ubuntu help, and
sometimes, even a newbie gets to help, and if you goof up, folks kindly
point out what is wrong, In four days I've never seen any verbal abuse.
I think you would enjoy being there, I learn things every day, I get to help
someone once and awhile, and I'm not afraid to say something and being
incorrect, because everyone is there to help, get help and never to hurt.
I don't know why, but you seemed to be extremely upset from the start, over
a message, and I still don't know what is up. All I can guess is that what I
said just plain don't work and that is that. How much better if they could
have just said that to me. Enjoy your Ubuntu, I think you made a good choice
with it. Perhaps if we ever communicate in the future, it will be a better
exchange. This one left me feeling that I dare not say anything, dare not
make a single mistake or I get my head chopped off. Not that I'm saying its
all my fault, but linux is complicated sometimes, mistakes will happen,
things will be said that are misconceptions. I for my part wish I had never
posted here. That's my fualt, not yours. Alt.Linux is not a safe place to
utter a mistake here, its not a place for a human being unless they have a
heart of stone and don't care about the opinions of others. I choose to care
about the opinions of others, including you.
