I personally use SuSE because it's comprehensive and easy to install.
This is largely because I'm a computer /user/, not a computer
/enthusiast/. As a full-time writer, I've found Linux to be much more
efficient than what I used to use and I get more done with less
effort.

I also buy the boxed SuSE edition because I'm on dial-up and can't
take a few months to download everything. Plus I feel it gives
something back.

But that being said, I don't believe distributions mean that much
after installation. If you use Program A on one distribution, you'll
find it's the same as Program A on another.

The main differences among the distributions are largely the programs
offered and the program installer.
