I create a folder named "a a" in GUI
how to enter this folder in console using cd command?
I tried in many ways all failed
1.cd "a a"
Why would one use a space in file or directory names at all? A
typical annoying doze user habit, there's no advantage over using
"_" instead. Just that *nix fs allow such cancer, doesn't mean it's
a clever idea.
That bad habit is one that windows acquired from Macs, though.
Spaces in filenames. Arghhhh
Except that what you're seeing on a Mac isn't a filename... it's the
name property of a forked file object... or something like that.
Though I'm not sure that make any difference to this discussion.
Curious why anyone would say this is OS specific at all. If the OS can do
it, a user on any OS could commit the 'crime'. Any *nix user that has no
need or no ability to shell script will rarely run into an issue if using
spaces and if they arent told NOT to use them, why wouldn't they. People
aren't accustomed_to_typing_like_this.
People that have used computers for more than 10 years certainly are.
Nonsense. Windows 3.X has been around longer than 10 years and DOS even
longer and only since Win95 have Windows users had the ability to name
files in any thing other than the 8.3 convention.
Now, if you had said programmers... you might have had a point, but
users, absolutely not.
