Which Directory

I've been looking at the Linux Filesystem Hierarchy Standard trying to
figure out where to put this application software. As far as I can see,
it doesn't really fit in anywhere, so where do I put it then?

The app un-tars into it's own set of directories. As far as I can see,
it's all self-contained, not really following the FHS. Where should I
un-tar it to?
