'Twas brillig, and the slithy Paul Martin did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
Hello all can someone tell me what are the most important files
to save and store on different removable drive for backup . I
am new to Linux and would like to give it a serious test for this
reason I would like to use it for real so e mails and documents
that I create . where are they all saved and is it just a matter
of copying a saved folder back into a fresh install ?
Thanks Paul
If you have a large enough removable drive you can just backup your
entire /home/<username> directory. That's what I did recently onto an 80G
USB hard drive.
Or, assuming you're using KDE, Kmail emails, for example, are usually stored
in /home/<username>/.kde/share/apps/kmail and the various subdirectories
thereunder. Your documents are stored wherever you want them to be.
Configuration files are usually stored
in /home/<username>/.kde/share/config.
