Rubbish, that's one of the main advantages of Linux. I can browse the web
and open email without worrying at all. Security is a never ending

You didn't quote that part completely. The OP said, "as the myths would have us believe." That part isn't "rubbish." When I started with Linux, I had the impression that it was some sort of impenetrable shield against malware of all forms. That, as I would learn later, isn't true. Linux is unaffected by *Windows* malware - but that doesn't mean such crap can't be written specifically for Linux. It's much more difficult to write effective malware for Linux, but not impossible. In fact, there have been a handful of Linux viruses/worms already(versus hundreds of thousands for Windows). So far these have been non-issues, but to think that it *can't* happen to us is burying your head in the sand.
