Re: monitor/screen issue

Hi,

Welcome!

and when I installed linux, the text and the curser
was "below" the screen, about an inch virtually.

I was wondering if this is something that I can fix in linux, could it
be a driver problem? or is this a problem with my monitor? The monitor
works good with a windows machine.
Any help would be appreciated.

I do not know much about ubuntu (I use suse, where I know the answer)
I only use ubuntu occasionally, but if you dont soon find how to do it
here, be sure to also try the ubuntu forum.

I recently changed from CRT to LCD monitor (from Dams.com , Edge 10)
and had to go through this procedure. In many cases this would be
sorted out automatically during the original install process though.
As it happens, the Egde10 LCD monitors have one of the buttons on the
front which is 'auto' and it sets the size at the monitor :-) . But I
still set up my config information in the config (file) facility
anyway. Also, some distributions of Linux may come with nvidia stuff too.

One good thing about Ubuntu is that it comes on a single CD not a
bunch of CDs. However, it slightly increases the chance that you may
need to download (easy) an extra file or so. The Download facility in
ubuntu is very easy to use so do ask questions rather than struggle
too much?
