Actually, Apple's 'look and feel' came out of of Xerox's Smalltalk.
Xerox sued them and lost.

You make an interesting point. Court battles are like fights. Fights only
prove who fought better at the time. Court battles often only prove who had
the deeper wallet and the stronger influence.

It's really nice for us that that's all over. I rather like
having KDE and Gnome around.
