Actually, Apple's 'look and feel' came out of of Xerox's Smalltalk.
Xerox sued them and lost.

Actually, Apple and Xerox had a deal where Apple got the GUI and Xerox
got Apple shares.

That deal did happen, but the suit also happened -- in December '89.
Four months later the judge threw out most of the complaints on the
technicality that Xerox had waited too long to sue. Opinions naturally
differ as to how much Apple's desktop owes to Xerox's technologies.
