In alt.os.linux bbbl67 <yjkhan@xxxxxxxxx>:
Is there any option available for a graphical login screen which has
all of the user names listed (alongside an icon, possibly) on the login
screen? You then just click on the icon or name, and type your
password, rather than having to type your username too. This is like
the default login screen in Windows XP.
Kdm does this on some distro per default, however it can luckily
be disabled. Anyone in front of the system seeking to login
illegal doesn't need to guess a username if there's some icon.
The possible attacker is now one step ahead without doing
anything.;(
It simply that anyone who can't remember his username* but needs
some icon, shouldn't be in front of a computer in the first
place.
*Presuming he could chose it or it is reasonable, which doesn't
include just numbers and alike brain dead username.
AFAIK it is even possible to login without password at all if
configured with kde/kdm.
Good luck

#bofh excuse 106: The electrician didn't know what the yellow
cable was so he yanked the ethernet out.
