Kdm does this on some distro per default, however it can luckily
be disabled. Anyone in front of the system seeking to login
illegal doesn't need to guess a username if there's some icon.
The possible attacker is now one step ahead without doing
anything.;(

If they are sitting infront of the computer, they could reboot the machine in single user mode and reset the root password.
