Is there any option available for a graphical login screen which has
all of the user names listed (alongside an icon, possibly) on the login
screen? You then just click on the icon or name, and type your
password, rather than having to type your username too. This is like
the default login screen in Windows XP.
Kdm does this on some distro per default, however it can luckily
be disabled. Anyone in front of the system seeking to login
illegal doesn't need to guess a username if there's some icon.
The possible attacker is now one step ahead without doing
anything.;(
If they are sitting infront of the computer, they could reboot the machine in
single user mode and reset the root password.
Why take the time if the user is already selected, just type in
the password from the small yellow post-it on the monitor. ;-)
