That almost sounds as if FC has found a dual head video card and has set up Xinerama or something like it...I dont use FC but I have seen that kind of thing when I set up Xinerama on a dual head card and then started the machine with one monitor turned off

i've just installed fedora core 3 on my PC(40GB)in the last 20GB.
partition, install was fine didn't face any problems but now the
xwindows gone haywire. the monitor doen't refresh. whenever i open a
window i have to move mouse all over it to find the options in the
window. so i cannot use X to change any monitor refresh
options/resolution. i tried tweaking xorg.conf without running
X(Ctrl+Alt+F1) but even then no avail(even after reboot!).
monitor(samsung) was detected fine and so it the graphics card(intel)
i've read monitor manual and the refresh rates specified match with the
ones that fedora took(saw in xorg.conf). and even then lilo has a faded
look(i didn't change the default blue) and while booting even the
progress screen doesn't show up completely.so what's the probem?.well
irony is that its my friends PC and i've installed linux to show him
how good it is over windows but now linux looks shabby and windows is
working pretty fine.
