[OT] 1.67ghz cpu in 1.2ghz board

This is prolly a semi-stupid question, but please bear with me.

I've got an ASRock K7VM3 board (new), that the docs say will operate at
1.2 ghz, the closest chip I've found so far is an AMD Sempron 1.67ghz.

Am I correct in assuming that the 1.67ghz cpu in the 1.2ghz board simply
means that the cpu will not need to work as hard as it would if it were
a 1.2ghz?
