I've got an ASRock K7VM3 board (new), that the docs say will operate at
1.2 ghz, the closest chip I've found so far is an AMD Sempron 1.67ghz.

Am I correct in assuming that the 1.67ghz cpu in the 1.2ghz board simply
means that the cpu will not need to work as hard as it would if it were
a 1.2ghz?

I have used this board and chip together and they work fine together. The
chip will work at full speed but I seem to remember having to tell the
mobo what setting something was for the chip. Sorry to be vague but I
cannot remember now what it did not detect for itself.

Far as I can guess from looking over the board's 'quick installation
guide', that's probably the FSB select jumper or the FID jumpers. I'm
going to have to have a look at the docs on the CD before I go
installing it.
