Did that. Bought an Epson Perfection 3490 ~$99 USB flatbed scanner
because I had seen a google post and also an Amazon reviewer's post
that it worked with linux. Much to my chagrin I have not been able to
get it to work with linux (believe me I have tried). Hence my query
about if Win4Lin could be used as a workaround. Now I really only use
the scanner about once or twice a year, but it just irks me that it is
really the last remaining thing I need MS-Windows on at least one of my
systems for in a dual boot system, otherwise I could junk Winblows
entirely.
Did you install 'iscan' from ayasys.jp/english? I had to do that to get my
newest Epson 4490 working - there was also a 'plugin' that had to be
installed. The 3490 is listed as supported - it should work with 'iscan'
and once that is installed it should also work with xsane.
