What am I doing wrong, how come that did not work bit? What you have
going on there sounds really neat and I would like to try it. What is
the "wb:0" part do?
Oh it works if I do this:
xconsole -file /var/log/messages -daemon
The -display wb:0 indicated the display should go to the node wb
I see.
-geom 1032x50+400+00 sets where to set the line width, number of
lines and top left corner of display to show it.
I don't think that my xconsole is as sophisticated as all that. I do not
get options to set geometry in that manner with xconsole. man xconsole:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
XCONSOLE(1)
XCONSOLE(1)
NAME
xconsole - monitor system console messages with X
SYNOPSIS
xconsole [-toolkitoption ...] [-file file-name] [-notify]
[-stripNonprint] [-daemon]
[-verbose] [-exitOnFail]
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't see anything for toolkitoption but this really is not that
important. Here is more from the man page:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
X DEFAULTS
This program uses the Athena Text widget, look in the Athena
Widget Set documentation for
controlling it.
Xconsole otherwise accepts resources of the same names as the
command-line options (with-
out the leading dash). "file" is a string type, "saveLines" an
integer, and the remaining
options are booleans.
WIDGETS
In order to specify resources, it is useful to know the
hierarchy of the widgets which
compose xconsole. In the notation below, indentation indicates
hierarchical structure.
The widget class name is given first, followed by the widget
instance name.
XConsole xconsole
XConsole text
ENVIRONMENT
DISPLAY to get the default host and display number.
XENVIRONMENT
to get the name of a resource file that overrides the
global resources stored in
the RESOURCE_MANAGER property.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
man X for xwidget controls
[ohmster@ohmster ~]$ man x
No manual entry for x
[ohmster@ohmster ~]$
you might try something like -fg white -bg seagreen
for color list showrgb
That showrgb did show a big list of colors and that is pretty cool. No
need to go on about this, xconsole does work, it just does not seem to
be configurable like the one that you are using. I can still use it
though and will figure out a way to make it nicer as I need it. Thanks
for your help bit.
