When it comes to "easy to use", it's quite the same for most distros,
try to avoid meta-distros like Gentoo and Arch Linux, as those requiers
you to compile everything.
Oh come now - compile everything ? Yes, in a matter of speaking you are
correct, but one doesn't actually have to do:
# ./configure
# make
# make install
Just do, for example,
emerge gnome
and walk away and wait for the system to compile - and, yes, herein is the
rub of which I think you speak... the damned waiting for the compile to
finish. Partly why I stopped using Gentoo is that an update to OpenOffice
required a new compile of MANY hours.
Yet, I agree Gentoo is NOT for newbies.
