Beowulf enlightened us with:
Anybody had success installing WindowsXP in linux using VMware?
Yup. No problems what so ever, except the same problems I have with
WinXP running on a physical computer.
At my local LUG last night we decided to try this at our November
meeting. We will likely try it using Ubuntu linux.
So did I.
LUG meeting is two hours, do you think we can do it in two hours if
Ubunutu and vmware are installed, and a WinXP CD is read to use
somehow for the install?
Sure. What I did was create a copy of the CD (dd if=/dev/cdrom
of=winxp.iso) and use that as the virtual CD.
(I have even heard that with the XGL graphics extension to X, it is
possible with vmware to have WinXp running on one side of the
rotatable "cube"!)
Nice :D
