cups: cannot print anymore on remote printer

Since I upgraded to slack 11 (cups-1.1.23-i486-1 to cups-1.1.23-i486-4)
I can't print anymore to a printer on a server which I haven't changed
anything.
Actually my cupsd.conf file is the same, I don't know where the data
about previous config was stored in because the cupsd.conf does not
reflect any info about the printers set up before. But since I upgraded
to slack11 all printers that I installed before have gone.
So i re-created the remote printer through the web interface of cups;
I don't remember which protocol i used before in the URI space, I think
it was cups: but now that doesn't work anymore. So i tried socket, lpd,
ipp and none have worked.
for example:
with ipp:
Device URI: http://192.168.x.xx:631/ipp/printer
returns:
Printer State: stopped, accepting jobs.
"unable to create temporary file: No such file or directory"
.
