Re: Most used files are disappearing

zuppa <zuppa@xxxxxxxxx>:
Hi all, not sure if this is the correct place to ask, otherwise pls tell
me where.

This is alt. Anything fits.

We are experiencing problems on a machine on Scientific Linux 3.3 which
has kernel 2.4.21 and ext3 : all the files in most used directories are
disappearing.

Bizarre. I'd take a fine tooth comb to the log files in /var/log, and
keep a close eye on "ps" output. I've never seen or heard anything
like this, short of a cracked system. I suspect that disk is dying,
but it's hard to understand why you're not experiencing corruption all
over the place instead of one dir at a time.

SL is good software. This is v. strange.
