[ RH distro info ]

Thank you so much for the info. I was on FC a few minutes ago which
hanged
and only the mouse could move. Ideally, in Windows, one can just press
Ctrl,
Alt, Del and choose to end the "Not Responding" task. What would be the
equivalent in Linux(any flavour).

Nope, in >99,99% the kernel is still running fine, just X hogged
the display. Try switching to VT first "[CTRL][ALT][F1-F6]" which
should give you a VT to login, may take a few seconds. If the
keyboard is stuck, try to login via ssh from another system and
clear the mess. Another idea would be to enable "magic sysrq" and
use this, try a google search on the above. Or one could run an
agetty on the serial port and use this from some laptop/other box
to login.

Good luck

BTW
Did you checked the URL I send in another reply to this thread?

Yes Michael, I went through the URL and I much appreciate your help as it
helped me learn a few things. Still trying to learn more, but one at a time.
I wonder how you all experts here must have dealt with Linux from it early
days.
Thanks again.
