If you can hold on until April, then Ubuntu Studio will be coming out.
That will contain the real-time kernel, plus pretty much all the software
you'll need. And who can resist an awesome theme?
http://ubuntustudio.orgNice! Yes, I can hold off. I can tinker in the meantime, maybe lose myvirginity at compiling a kernel just for "fun". But ubuntu studio
looks very interesting. I would assume it has a kernel allowing real-
time MIDI, etc.
Also, my OP related to one of my PCs that is AMD64, but my more
powerful PC (also using Ubuntu) is an AMD64 x2 dual core, smp kernel,
and when I ran rosegarden on that PC I did not get that error, so I
might be good to go to try getting MIDI working on it. But I am also
now in anticipation of ubuntu studio as a solution, thank you.
Just saw on distrowatch.com. a distro targeted at professional
musicians: http://www.jacklab.org/
Hey, if you got a spare PC to play distros with, why not? :) I don't
think it's a liveCD or live DVD, but maybe you have choices now. WHile
you're waiting for UbuntuStudio, that is.
