What kind of linux is good for me

I like to give linux a try, but don't know where to start.
I use my computer for internet, office, network and sometimes for
games.
Whit office I mean documents of tekst ,spreadsheets, pdf, etc. I think
for every thing there is another program for it.
I got a home network. The network documents are placed at a desktop
whit windows XP pro. I like to use those documents and the printer who
is connected to this computer.
For the games there is a program for it to still play them in linux.

But what kind of linux os system do you think i need. It is for a
laptop ACER Aspire 9412WSMi
