opensuse JAD distro (report)

Hmmm. Well I installed opensuse JAD distro (for musicians) to a partition
(I actually wiped out my WinXP on hda as I do not use WinXP on my home
office PC anymore, yeah!, only now on a video/audio workstation I have
been putting together). I was a disappointed-- I ran rosegarden and
immediately got the same fricken error I had gotten in Ubuntu 6.10, that
the kernel did not have proper latency timing built into it for MIDI,
etc.; sigh, I would surely have thought the makers of JAD opensuse would
have made sure the kernel for their distro would have had that taken care
of. Thus no real reason to switch distros; I guess I will stick with
Ubuntu, I might have to recompile a kernel specific for use with
rosegarden, etc.
I was also taken back by no gnome; JAD lets you choose from Enlightenment,
or KDE, or no GUI at all.
