Tried Adobe Premiere Pro 2 install using wine in linux. The install
stopped dead in its tracks from the very start. No go on this one. BUT, I
was able to install Jahshaka video editor, using their broken install
script, by looking at its contents and adding repositories in the script
for Ubuntu 6.06 even though I use Ubuntu 6.10, then did the apt-get thing
and got Jahshaka running.

I am still on a quest to try and find a way to do my video/audio editing
and such in linux rather than Windows if at all possible-- but I keep
running into a dead end finding an app that will let me add and edit audio
tracks along with the video. I even ran across a commercial closed source
video editor for linux for $199 but it ran horribly in linux, unusable--
weird for a commercial linux app.
