Kernel version?
Your mainboard?
nVidia driver version?
Which version of xorg/XFree86?
Link to your xorg.conf/XF86Config ?
Type of mouse/keyboard?
Do you have anything interesting in your /var/log/messages for the time when
things locks up?

With older nVidia driver there was a possibility to cause things happen when
surfing, of course normal sites should work without any problem, but some
shady sites may have used the coded needed to make things go badly.

I do suggest you update the graphics driver to the latest that supports the
graphics chip on your mainboard.

nVidia 2 - I downloaded this last night, have not had opportunity to
install - hope that this is it.
I am hoping that the video driver is the problem, if it was the issue
I would expect that I would not be able to open any site, same with
the other hardware (mouse / keyboard).

Need to learn about this and how to identify which kernel I am
using ????

mouse is logitec trackman / ball wireless, usb through PS/2
adapter....
compaq 18 key internet keyboard (PS/2).
/var/log/messages - nothing stood out.

SITES:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ - not this page but....
Firefox 2.0 when it starts after a new install and I notice the
"mozilla feedback agent" task has started.
I had Firefox actually running and surfing, till I hit a site with
this freeze up problem. That was all it took, whenever I started
Firefox after that, the system would show the "session" failure prompt
and lock. So I wiped all the Firefox information in my /home/user
library and started fresh, this resulted in the loop that I am in now
with Firefox - try to start locks up with the "agent". Kconquer is
more forgiving in that it will lock up on the same sites as Firefox,
but when I shut down I can surf with it till I hit another landmine -
I just wish I could get at the site "address string"....

http://groups.google.com - when I attempt to read a response or post
to it.
http://www.wachovia.com/ - when I attempt to login.

Yes, I know this is vague, sorry for the lack of details, but unlike
the windows pops that usually present a message or number or
something. I shut the machine down, wait for the reboot and hope that
I remember where I was or what I was doing before the lock up.

I posted hoping for a "yo dummy response SuSe 9.0 had an issue
with....", a security, certificate, problem dealing with asp, php,
addressing or javascript that would require a driver update.

Thanks again for the assistance,
