One other issue that may play into this mess is that apparently YOU
(YaST Online Update) does not work. All the "Installation Source"
sites return 404 or lock up the process (not my crash). Is YOU still
supported for 9.0 - I assumed that 9.3 was upgrades.

Nothing of SuSE 9.0 is supported. It, as well as 9.1, and 9.2 are all
officially EOL (End Of Life) The current version is openSUSE 10.2, and you
would be far better served if you upgraded the OS to a supported version
rather than try to keep hacking together an official dead version.

Didn't you suspect something was amiss, when you didn't receive any
security updates for the last year and a half?

SUSE Linux 9.1 - June 30th 2006 (done)
SUSE Linux 9.2 - October 31st 2006 (done)
SUSE Linux 9.3 - April 30th 2007 (current projection)
SUSE Linux 10.0 - October 31st 2007 (current projection)
SUSE Linux 10.1 - May 30th 2008 (current projection)
openSUSE 10.2 - November 30th 2008 (current projection)

I tried using what I found here
http://www.novell.com/linux/download/updates/93_i386.html
(ftp://ftp.suse.com/) as "User-Defined Location" this did not work
either.

Of course it didn't work; it's for a totally different, much later
version.

Could not find "lspci" in the installation for SuSE 9.0.

"Lost? Lost? I've never been lost... Been a tad confused for a
month or two, but never lost."

Didnt recieve any security updates because I have been using Windows
XP, this crashed recently requiring me to FDISK the drive, which was
on a removable hard drive. This windows crash gave me an excuse to
try with Linux that I had purchased years ago again, I had lost my
internet connection when we went direct and I did not have time to
"work" on Windows .NET stuff and "play" with Linux. It looks like I
will be stuck paying for SuSE 10.0 or Vista and I work in windows
environment, I was hoping that I could make Linux functional this
time....

Will check out the sites and try upgrading the kernel, figuring out
how to install drivers and the damn thing trying to remember
parameters, the funky names like "grep", "awk" and "ls".

Thanks for the site info:
