Your choice but you are also free to download the ISO images of openSUSE
(or any other distro) from the official mirrors or from BitTorrent using
the official tracker and burn to CD/DVD and install without paying a cent.

software with the download version but it should have everything you need.
Commercial software also includes 'Commercial Freeware' like Acrobat
Reader, Flash Player, RealPlayer, and Opera, which you can download and

What is this "direct connect" you keep mentioning? Do you mean Comcast?
It is certainly possible to use Linux on Comcast - just Google for
'linux comcast'. Does your cable modem have an Ethernet port or only a
USB port?
